Ask Cache — your books, in plain English

A conversational AI assistant that answers questions about your finances using your real numbers. Available on Business and Studio plans.

Today we're rolling out Ask Cache to every Business and Studio beta member.

Ask Cache is a conversational assistant that reads your actual books and answers in plain English — no SQL, no pivot tables, no rummaging through three tabs of QuickBooks.

What you can ask

  • "How much did I spend on software last quarter?"
  • "Which clients owe me money?"
  • "Am I on track for my Q4 budget?"
  • "What was my biggest expense category last year?"

Answers come back in under two seconds, with the source rows linked so you can verify every number.

How it works

Ask Cache runs on Anthropic's Claude, with your data scoped to your own org. Queries are stateless — we don't train on your books, and we don't retain prompts past the response.

Limits in this release

  • English-only for now. French support is in the queue for Q3.
  • One question at a time. Multi-turn conversations land next month.
  • Read-only — Ask Cache can't yet change anything in your books. We're being careful.

If you have feedback, we want it: drop us a note from the assistant panel itself.

Capture v2 — receipt OCR with 99.2% accuracy

Our second-generation OCR pipeline pulls vendor, amount, date, tax, and currency from receipts with 99.2% accuracy in under two seconds. Available to everyone.

Capture is the feature that made the most beta users say "okay, fine" out loud — and the one we've been least satisfied with. Today we're shipping Capture v2.

What's better

  • Accuracy. Mean OCR accuracy on the eval set jumped from 94.1% to 99.2%. The improvement is largest on faded receipts and unusual fonts — categories where v1 was unreliable enough to require manual review.
  • Speed. End-to-end capture time (camera shutter to confirmed line item) dropped from 4.1s to 1.8s at p50.
  • Tax detection. We now parse tax lines as a separate amount, not folded into the total. Long requested.
  • Bulk upload. Drag 50 receipts onto the desktop dashboard and they all process in parallel.

What's new

  • Email forwarding. Forward any receipt email to capture@cacheapps.io and it lands in your inbox. Works with Stripe, Square, Apple, Adobe — every vendor we tested.
  • Multi-currency. Receipts in CAD, USD, EUR, GBP, and JPY auto-convert at the date's rate. No more manual conversion math at tax time.
  • Vendor learning. Re-categorize a vendor once and Cache remembers forever.

What's still rough

Faded thermal receipts from very old terminals (think gas stations in small towns) are still where we miss most often. We have a model fine-tune in flight for these.
